Western Star Offers Test Drive

40 Western 400Western Star Trucks Sales Inc. is taking the test drive to a higher level by allowing customers to put the new Western Star 5700XE to work on the job.

Through Western Star’s eXtreme Efficiency Demo Program, customers can drive a 5700XE while performing their normal jobs. Drivers are encouraged to log a minimum of 300 miles to experience the features and benefits of the 5700XE, Western Star’s new on-highway truck. 

The program is available through select Western Star dealerships in the United States and Canada until the end of 2015.  

“This is the ultimate test drive, and we’re excited for customers to experience the next generation of legendary Western Star performance,” said Ann Demitruk, director of marketing for Western Star. “We invite fleet owners, managers and drivers to explore the great ride and fuel efficiency of the 5700XE in their unique operation.”   

The 5700XE demo trucks were spec’d by dealers with either a Detroit DD13, DD15 or DD16 engine. Most demo units include the new Detroit DT12 automated manual transmission which enhances fuel efficiency while improving the overall driver experience. Some demo units may also include the integrated Detroit Powertrain, which features a downsped DD15 engine rated at 400 hp and 1750 lb.-ft torque, the DT12 transmission with the powerful new Intelligent Powertrain Management, and Detroit front and rear axles with configurations and gearing specifically designed to work with the downsped engine rating.  

All trucks are spec’d with the proprietary Detroit Virtual Technician remote diagnostic service, a part of the Detroit Connect suite of integrated telematics solutions.

The Western Star 5700XE is ideal for owner-operators and small to medium fleets in truckload/LTL, bulk, refrigerated, long-haul and manufacturing applications. The truck features a 126-in. BBC with a set-back axle and is available with a wide range of sleeper configurations.
