Winkleman Named President, CEO of Hinkle Contracting

Hinkle Contracting Co. LLC appointed Larry Winkleman as president and CEO effective June 1, 2015, succeeding Tom Hinkle. Winkleman joined Hinkle in August 2013 as chief operating officer, having worked for three prominent Ohio construction and construction materials businesses, S.E. Johnson Companies Inc., Kokosing Construction Co. Inc., and, most recently, Miller Bros. Construction Inc. Winkleman is a civil engineer and has a Master of Business Administration degree.

Regarding his new role, Winkleman said, “I am honored to serve as president and CEO of Hinkle Contracting. Hinkle Contracting was founded in 1942 by Buckner Hinkle Sr., and is based in Paris, Ken., employing more than 500 people. Hinkle is a leader in Kentucky in both the production and sale of construction aggregates and in the production and placement of hot-mix asphalt, according to the company.

Hinkle operates 16 limestone quarries in Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia and 14 hot-mix asphalt plants in Kentucky. In addition, Hinkle, through its subsidiary, Buckhorn Materials LCC, operates a granite quarry and natural sand mine, both located in South Carolina.

Winkleman becomes the fourth president and CEO of Hinkle Contracting Co., following Buckner Hinkle Sr., Henry Hinkle and Tom Hinkle, who will continue his involvement with Hinkle Contracting as a consultant and advisor to the Hinkle management team on special projects.
