Young Leaders, Frac Sand and More

Rock Products is very pleased to be a partner with the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA) in supporting its Young Leaders.

At this year’s AGG1 show, we joined with Superior Industries in sponsoring the Young Leaders luncheon speaker, Dave Turin of the hit TV show “Gold Rush.” It was a memorable speech, and one that everyone in attendance appreciated.

The NSSGA Young Leaders provides an annual conference for industry professionals 40 years of age and younger to develop leadership and management skills, address industry positions, build a national network of industry professionals, exchange ideas, and discuss areas of mutual interest that will help them and their companies become more successful in the aggregates industry.

At the recently held Young Leaders conference in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., we sponsored the Mark S. Walsh Leadership Award. This year, it was presented to Dennis Coker of Natural Resource Partners. Our National Sales Director Sean Carr was on-hand to do the honors.

You can read our interview with Dennis on page 10. He makes a very good point that one of the main benefits of the Young Leaders Annual Conference is the fact that the group is made up of sales, operations, and finance professionals from public companies, private companies and has both producers and suppliers.

Also in this issue is a special Frac Sand Insider Resource Guide. This guide contains a very detailed analysis of U.S. geography that illustrates where material suitable for frac sand production in located.

It also contains the most detailed analysis published to date of national frac sand production. We would like to thank the market experts at the U.S. Geological Survey for working with us on this. We hope you find it interesting and useful.

Finally, a correction from our last issue. My interview with Tom Hill of Summit Materials featured a great picture of Tom Hill – however it was the Tom Hill of Vulcan Materials, not the Tom Hill of Summit Materials. While they do know each other and look a lot like twin brothers, they are not, and I apologize for the error.
