Iowa Association Honors Aggregates Operations

The Iowa Limestone Producers Association honored several quarry operations at its 70th annual convention.

Martin Marietta Materials Alden District employees received a Good Neighbor Award for Community Involvement. They collaborated with kindergarten and 5th grade students from Alden Elementary School to plant 39 trees in a new campground area near their city park.

BMC Aggregates’ Fertile, Iowa, operation was recognized for its open house at the Fertile Quarry. The event was held in conjunction with, and in support of, the local community’s Fertile Days event.

River Products received a Community Involvement Award for their sponsorship of “Rockin” Rocks and Fossils. This event was in support of the Take A Kid Outdoors (TAKO) program and was held at their Conklin Quarry in rural Johnson County.

Recognition was given to Wending Quarries for the American Forestry Merit Badge Clinic they hosted in support of the local Boy Scouts of America program.

Marc Whitman, quarry development manager, Wendling Quarries, was honored with ILPA’s “I Make A Difference” award, the highest individual member award. Whitman’s deep commitment and service to his community, family and employer were all cited in the video preceding the presentation of his award.
