New Kids in Town

Congress-150

Dec. 16, 2014 – There are some new kids in town. It was announced that freshman GOP Sens. Shelley Moore Capito, W.Va., Mike Rounds, S.D., and Dan Sullivan, Alaska, will join the Environment and Public Works Committee, which hasCongress-400
jurisdiction over the bulk of surface transportation reauthorization. All current GOP members of the EPW Committee will remain. The Commerce Committee, with oversight of transportation safety issues, will welcome Sens. Sullivan, Cory Gardner, Colo., and Steve Daines, Mont.  Current Sen. Jerry Moran, Kansas, will also join Commerce. According to Jim Riley, NSSGA’s senior government affairs director, “If you don’t know them, there is no time like the present to begin cultivating relationships. We need to ensure they know the aggregates industry’s position on priority issues.”
