Lehigh Hanson Inc. was recognized by CIO magazine as one of the 2014 CIO 100 companies. The 27th annual award program honors organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology (IT).
Lehigh Hanson was recognized for the development and implementation of new sales reporting and analytics tools to support a company-wide focus on improving gross margins, increasing profitability and adding value for its customers within the company’s cement and aggregates businesses.
The IT employees assigned to create these tools were able to build them using information in the company’s existing data warehouse. The team also launched a new tracking tool designed to allow the sales managers and executives to run their own reports, showing real time performance of their sales teams.
“For 27 years now, the CIO 100 awards have honored the innovative use of technology to deliver genuine business value,” said Maryfran Johnson, editor-in-chief of CIO magazine and events. “Our 2014 winners are an outstanding example of the transformative power of IT to drive everything from revenue growth to competitive advantage.”
“Lehigh Hanson is proud to be recognized for using innovative technology to support our employees and give them access to information and tools to help increase sales, drive profitability and better serve their customers,” said Bob Pischke, vice president of information technology at Lehigh Hanson. “These types of projects clearly demonstrate the value of a strong working relationship between an IT department and the frontline teams that engage with customers and represent the company every day in the marketplace.”
Executives from the winning companies will be recognized at the CIO 100 Symposium and Awards Ceremony, to be held Aug. 19 at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.
