Ramsey Talks Up North American Market

Addressing the company’s 2013 Training and Technology Conference general session, Command Alkon Chief Executive Officer Phil Ramsey projected modest growth in global software and plant equipment shipments next year, about 80 percent of gains likely stemming from North American concrete, aggregate and bulk-materials producers and haulers.

“Our international business was responsible for sales increases in 2010 through 2012,” he told participants in the Oct. 9-11 event, staged at The Mirage, Las Vegas, and attended by Mining Media International. “Growth in 2013 has been strongest in North America, up 8 percent over last year.” Key contributors to this year’s order log are COMMANDbatch controls, he added, sales of which have proved a leading indicator in past construction market recovery periods. Another positive indicator was registration for this year’s conference, which drew nearly 450 – a 40 percent jump over the 2012 gathering in New Orleans.

Among drivers of 2014 North American sales will be MOBILEconnect, a new service offering three platforms for smartphone and other mobile devices: Electronic Ticketing, aimed at helping users evolve a paperless solution for drivers and deliveries; Commerce, providing customers order request files, truck tracking information and account balances; and Sales Automation, affording sales team members in the field access to office quoting and forecasting systems.

Command Alkon is promoting MOBILEconnect as a bridge to a cloud computing platform. The rollout aligned with the conference theme, “Times Change. So Does Technology.”

The 2014 Command Alkon Technology and Training Conference will be Nov. 11-13 at the Hilton Riverside in New Orleans.
