Utah Quarry Granted Permit

The Summit County, Utah, Council denied an appeal on a Rockport Rocks quarry approval, according to The Park Record.

Following the council’s meeting, the quarry continues to be set for construction on a two-acre property near Rockport State Park in Peoa, Utah. The Eastern Summit Planning Commission previously approved the quarry, which will be used to extract large boulders for use in landscaping and stream bed stabilization applications.

The approval assumes the quarry meets the county’s conditional use permit conditions.

The conditions require the quarry operator to submit proof of an operating permit and reclamation bond, Rockport Rocks obtains a CWP3 permit before beginning quarry work and that properly licensed personnel carry out blasting operations between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

The conditions also state that temporary uses or accessory uses not included in the operation description are not permitted; limit operation hours to 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays; and require the company to control mud, rock and dust track-out from the operation.
