AGG1 2013, co-located with World of Asphalt, concluded a successful run in San Antonio back in March, with a sold-out show floor with record exhibit space, near-record registered attendance, more co-located industry groups and meetings than ever before, and record education ticket sales.

Many companies that exhibited at the show were pleased with the attendance and the chance to get in front of so many producers to offer their equipment and technology solutions.

“AGG1 and the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA) convention were both a very good chance to network with all of my colleagues in the industry,” said John Bennington, district manager MCT at Metso Minerals. “I had an opportunity to meet and talk to a full spectrum of people from producers to manufacturers, from old friends to new acquaintances.”

Metso Minerals, one of the few companies to stage a major press conference at show, took the opportunity to launch a new division. “The recent AGG1 show in San Antonio, provided an ideal launch platform for Metso’s new SCS strategy, said David Quail, director screening and conveying solutions. “While at the same time the relaxed San Antonio environment provided an ideal setting to meet with key customers and distributors.”

Polydeck was at the show to introduce an important new product line. Dennis Zeiger, aggregates marketing manager, saw the show as an opportunity to talk about the many benefits of the new product. “We always consider AGG1 to be a key part of our marketing strategy,” he said. “It was particularly important this year as we chose AGG1 as the venue to introduce our new Armadex extreme duty scalping product line.”

Steve Wood, global strategic marketing manager for Honeywell Titan, also touted the importance of being able to launch a new product line. “The World of Asphalt provided a great opportunity to introduce our new Honeywell Titan line of polymers for asphalt modification, which help decrease energy usage, reduce emissions and save hot mix plants and contractors money while helping meet demanding road specifications,” he said.

Karen Thompson, president of W.S. Tyler Canada, considered it a successful show for the company. “With more than double the leads than the previous year, hopefully this is a sign of improving economic times,” she said. “We certainly had a lot of interest in our Mobile Hydro-Clean introduction, a new technology which revolutionizes aggregate cleaning.”

Brian Barlow, president/CEO of Barlow Strategic Sales and Marketing noted the emergence of new companies into the market. “It was great to see the volume of exhibitors and the increase in equipment,” he said. “I was impressed with the newer crushing and screening powerhouses developing. This should provide producers with much new product development and greater options in the future.”

“We were very pleased with this year’s event,” said Greg Chaffin, project manager-marketing communications, Joy Global Surface Mining. “Our overall booth traffic was good and many of our larger customers were there. Our conveyor products have been on exhibit at every AGG1 show and San Antonio was the best event so far.”
