Brian Lemon, who will serve as co-chief executive officer of R.O. Harrell Inc., said the company will remain in its current location with employees remaining in their jobs. The company name will remain R.O. Harrell Inc. and the trucks will retain the R.O. Harrell Trucking logo.

Lemon praised Harrell for the job he has done over the years in running the three-generation family-owned business started by Harrell’s grandfather. He said that the sale “grants the Lemon and Horton families the privilege and opportunity to continue what the Harrell family has built.”

Harrell said he felt the time had come to leave the business, which he joined with his father back in 1974. In choosing to sell his business to the owners of Southern Tank, Harrell stated he wanted a family business to sell to, one that he felt would carry on his work in the trucking industry, which does business all across the nation and as far as Quebec, Canada.

The acquisition of R.O. Harrell Inc. by the Lemon and Horton families will allow for the expansion of current operations and extension of quality customer service of both companies.

"I firmly believe the acquisition of R.O. Harrell will be a positive springboard for both of our companies as we move forward into the new year," Brian Lemon said.

Southern Tank Transport has a combined fleet of 271 tractors located in Holly Hill, S.C.; Charleston, S.C.;  Kimballton, Va.; Houston; New Braunfels, Texas; Fort Worth, Texas; Clifton, Texas; Calera, Ala.; and Fort Lauderdale, Fla. They are a major carrier for Cemex, Argos, Lhoist and MeadWestvaco.
