New Report Targets Funding for Interstates

The Reason Foundation released a new report, “Interstate 2.0: Modernizing the Interstate Highway System via Toll Finance,” which details how much it will cost to reconstruct and widen Interstate highways in all 50 states and shows how to pay for the modernization efforts with toll revenues.

Oldcastle President Elected ARTBA Chair

Doug Black, president and chief operating officer of Atlanta-based Oldcastle Inc. has been elected 2013-14 chairman of the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA). The election was announced during the association’s national convention, held Sept. 8-10 in Milwaukee, Wis.

FMI Releases Q3 Construction Outlook Report

Management consulting and investment banking firm FMI released its third-quarter 2013 Construction Outlook. According to the report, markets continue to shift, reducing annual Construction-Put-Place predictions to $909.6 billion, down nearly $4 billion from previous predictions. Early forecasts for 2014 show annual CPIP continues moderate growth of 7 percent, rising to $977 billion.

Dodge Momentum Index Gains Ground in August

The Dodge Momentum Index advanced 1.4 percent in August to 114.2 (2000=100), according to McGraw Hill Construction, a division of McGraw Hill Financial.
