  • Goodyear conveyor belting was used in a Buffalo, N.Y. zoo to relieve a 4,700-pound rhinoceros' sore feet. The rhino developed cracks in its hooves from walking on a concrete floor.
  • Dyno Nobel purchased a majority share in St. Lawrence Explosives and its interest in SLE Canada.
  • Hydrogenics sold six HyPM-LP2s,10-kW fuel-cell power modules, to Deere & Co. for off-road vehicle applications. Also, Natural Resources Canada is providing $500,000 to fund reliability testing and further develop the unit.
  • ChevronTexaco Lubricants won a multi-year agreement worth more than $5.7 million to supply lubricants and coolants to Hanson Building Materials America.
  • John Deere produced its 15,000th H-Series loader in Davenport, Iowa.
  • Buffalo Wire Works and Kemper Equipment formed a partnership to service the aggregate markets in New Jersey, Delaware and eastern Pennsylvania.
  • Bridgestone/Firestone Off Road Tire was awarded Vulcan Material's 2002 Silver Alliance Supplier Award.
