The resolution recognizes the Theodore Plant for the positive impact it has had on the citizens of Alabama. “The recent efforts of the Holcim Plant have shown the business to be an asset to the corporate community in southern Mobile County,” Brooks said. The resolution commends the plant for awards and honors received during the past year, including:

  • Winner of the 2006 Outreach Award, as part of the 2006 Cement Industry Energy and Environment Awards by the Portland Cement Association and Cement Americas.
  • Winner of the 2006 Council of State Governments Associates Award for Corporate Citizenship.
  • Participation in the Habitat for Humanity's First Families Building Homes Across America initiative.

In addition, U.S. Congressman Jo Bonner (R-Ala.) entered a statement in the Congressional Record commending the plant for its accomplishments. It states: “I know the plant manager, Joe McFalls, the employees, their friends, families and members of the community join with me in praising Holcim for their many accomplishments, and I extend thanks for their continued service to Mobile County and the First Congressional District.”
