Final Environmental Rule Modernizes NEPA Process

The final National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) rule by the White House’s Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) has been released. NEPA, which was signed into law on Jan. 1, 1970, requires federal agencies to assess the environmental effects of their proposed actions prior to making decisions.

GCCA Releases Industry Biodiversity Guidelines

The Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) has published new guidelines aimed at further improving the biodiversity performance of the industry’s quarries. The guidelines support the association’s Sustainability Charter implementation and represent a collaborative effort by member companies to improve overall performance in biodiversity management and quarry rehabilitation.

EPA to Retain Ambient Air Quality Standards

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced a proposal to retain, without changes, the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for particulate matter (PM) including both fine particles (PM2.5) and coarse particles (PM10).
