Doosan’s DA40 articulated hauler is powered by a 6-cylinder interim Tier 4 compliant diesel engine with a gross power output of 490 hp at 2100 rpm. Compared to the previous MT41 model, it offers a 10-percent increase in engine power, and has a 22-percent increase in gross torque to 1750 lb.-ft. at 1300 rpm. The DA40 also has an increased body capacity of 34 cu. yd., and the payload has been boosted to 40 metric tons without tailgate, an increase of more than 15 percent over the payload of the MT41. Furthermore, the DA40 has permanent 6-wheel drive for equal power distribution while the free-swinging rear tandem bogie and the special articulation system offer excellent driving performance in difficult terrain. For routine maintenance and service, the truck’s cab can be tilted backward to provide easy access to components. Easier service access and longer service intervals result in lower operating costs. A fully automatic central greasing system and rear view camera are standard.
