Congress has punted (for the time being) on a long-term bill to reauthorize federal aviation programs including the Airport Improvement Program, reports Charlotte Garvey, Washington Correspondent for Rock Products. Legislators bought themselves more time by passing a short-term bill to extend aviation tax collection, which President Bush signed into law. The bill extends collection of taxes that fund the Airport Trust Fund through June 30. The House has approved a long-term aviation reauthorization bill. A pending bill has not yet been considered by the full Senate.
