Montreal-based Major Wire Industries Limited has named Valley Equipment Co. Inc., as its new screen media Authorized Dealer in Oregon, eastern Washington, northern and southwestern Idaho, and Hawaii. The dealership will offer all of Major Wire’s screen media solutions, including the advanced technology Flex-Mat 3 Self-Cleaning Screen Media in tensioned and modular versions and OptimumWire Woven Wire.

Cement Shipments Up, Clinker Down

According to Hendrik G. van Oss, cement commodity specialist for the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), total shipments of portland and blended cement in the United States and Puerto Rico for January 2011 were 3.7 million metric tons (Mt). This was 6 percent higher than shipments in January 2010.

Canadian Construction Market Projected to Hit $300 Billion by 2014

According to Alex Carrick, chief economist, CanaData, at Reed Construction Data, spending on new construction in Canada will rise to $301.4 billion by 2014. The level this year, based on Statistics Canada’s survey of owner’s investment intentions, is expected to be $240.6 billion.
