Construction Spending Drops to 11-Year Low

Construction spending fell for the sixth straight month in May, touching an 11-year low, as shrinking public outlays and residential construction swamped a rise in private nonresidential work, the Associated General Contractors of America reported last week in an analysis of new Census Bureau data. The construction trade association’s chief economist, Ken Simonson, predicted spending patterns would continue to be uneven.

Rockydale Quarries Acquires Two New Locations

Rockydale Quarries Corp. acquired two quarry locations from C.S. Mundy Quarries Inc. The ownership change is effective July 1, 2011. The new locations will operate as the Rockydale-Flatrock Quarry located in Shenandoah County, Va., and the Rockydale-Broadway Quarry located outside of Harrisonburg, Va., in Rockingham County.

W.S. Tyler Names MPS Aggregate Systems New Full-Service Dealer

St. Catharines, Ontario-based W.S. Tyler has named MPS Aggregate Systems as its new full-service aggregate equipment dealer in Texas. MPS, a Conley Lott Nichols of Texas Inc. company, has more than 30 years experience providing customized equipment and process solutions for aggregate, specialty sand, cement and crushed stone producers.
