Vulcan Renews Support for Foothills Conservancy

Vulcan Materials Co. recently renewed its support for the land and water conservation work of Foothills Conservancy, a nonprofit land trust dedicated to serving North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Foothills region, an eight-county area in the Blue Ridge Mountains that includes the headwaters of three major rivers: Catawba, Broad and Yadkin.

Three Killed, Six Wounded in Quarry Shooting

Three people were killed, and six wounded at a California cement plant and quarry after a disgruntled employee opened fire on his co-workers. The incident happened at Lehigh Hanson's Permanente cement plant and quarry in Cupertino. A seventh victim, from an attempted carjacking after the incident, was also admitted to the hospital.

TXI Reports Lower Quarterly Results

Texas Industries Inc. reported financial results for the quarter ended Aug. 31, 2011. Results for the quarter indicated a net loss of $7.4 million or $.27 per share.

Cat Vocational Truck Ready for Work; Second Model Announced

Caterpillar, at a September media event in Peoria, Ill., updated the trade press on its CT660 vocational truck. Rock Products attended the event, where Caterpillar called the truck “among the most significant new products ever launched” by the company.
