MSHA Releases First Quarter Fatality Update

The U.S. Department of Labor's Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) released a first-quarter summary of mining deaths across the country. Ten miners died in work-related accidents at the nation's mines during the first three months of 2012.

MSHA Issues Conveyor Start-Up Clarification

MSHA has issued a Program Information Bulletin (PIB) to emphasize to the metal and nonmetal mining industry the requirements for conveyor start-up warnings involving both manually operated and automatically operated conveyor belt systems at surface and underground mining locations.
