Lafarge Seeks Permit

LaFarge North America is seeking permits to expand its quarry operation near Buffalo. According to a notice from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Rock Island District, LaFarge is planning to expand its quarry operation to a 71.7-acre area of the company’s property just north of its existing 350-acre quarry.

The Eastern District of the Missouri Court of Appeals has denied a motion by Strack Excavating LLC of Cape Girardeau to operate a quarry near a Jackson, Mo., high school and has set a briefing schedule for the parties involved in the appeals process.
