The World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) released “Guidelines on Quarry Rehabilitation,” which provides practical guidance for managing the impacts of quarrying activities and ensuring that environments are properly reclaimed.

ARTBA-Backed Wetlands Case Gets U.S. Supreme Court Hearing

ARTBA and other stakeholders are urging the U.S. Supreme Court to suspend the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) seemingly automatic presumption of the need for a wetlands permit on all needed infrastructure and residential improvements. The Court heard arguments in Sackett v. U.S. EPA, a case that could fundamentally alter how the agency administers its permitting program.

Cemex Sites Earn Wildlife Habitat Council Certification

Five of Cemex’s sites in the U.S. have earned certification with the Wildlife Habitat Council for superior management of wildlife enhancement and land conservation projects. The five sites are cement-manufacturing plants in Fairborn, Ohio, and Louisville, Ky., and the FEC Quarry, 474 Sand Mine and Brooksville Quarry in Florida.

Lafarge North America Agrees to Pay EPA Penalty

Lafarge North America Inc. and four of its U.S. subsidiaries have agreed to resolve alleged Clean Water Act violations. The violations include unpermitted discharges of stormwater at 21 stone, gravel, sand, asphalt and ready-mix concrete facilities in Alabama, Colorado, Georgia, Maryland and New York, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
