Vista Sand Increases Production Capacity

Vista Sand Ltd. announced the addition of 1.5 million tons of annual production capacity at its mine in Granbury, Texas, which increases the overall capacity to approximately 4.5 million tpy of its Texas Premium White frac sand. Vista Sand also obtained a second Texas sand deposit projected to yield another 2 million tons annually.

Maalt Opens Big Lake Terminal

Maalt announced that it has commenced commercial operations in Big Lake, Texas, the newest addition to its terminal network. The Big Lake terminal, which sits on 205 acres, is located on the Texas Pacifico Railroad and is Maalt's 12th terminal.

Winona County Looking into Legality of Frac Sand Ban

Winona County, Minn., Attorney Karin Sonneman will advise the County Board later this spring on whether the board has the legal authority to ban new frac sand mines and processing facilities in rural parts of the county, according to the Winona Post. Her legal opinion could be the first step toward a vote on the issue sometime this year.
