Canadian Frac Sand Plant to Move Forward

Victory Nickel Inc. has received the required approval from the Alberta Energy Regulator to develop the 400,000 tpy Seven Persons frac sand processing facility just southwest of Medicine Hat, Alberta.

Gossan Sells Manigotagan Silica Frac Sand Project

Gossan Resources Limited entered into a purchase and sale agreement to vend its Manigotagan Silica Frac Sand Project, comprised of nine quarry leases located near Seymourville, Manitoba, Canada, to Claim Post Resources Inc. Gossan has been seeking a joint-venture partner or a purchaser for the project since completing a marketing study in late 2010.

Wisconsin Names New Point Person for Frac Sand

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources named Deb Dix as its new lead on industrial or frac sand issues. Dix will serve as the initial point of contact on frac sand for public, private, legislative and media inquiries on the DNR's regulatory authorities and interaction with the industrial sand sector. She will be based in the DNR's Wisconsin Rapids office and is serving on an interim basis while the department moves forward with filling the position.

Air-Quality Monitoring Plan Delayed

According to the Winona Post, the city of Winona, Minn., is not much closer to deciding whether it will conduct air-quality monitoring for silica dust and diesel fumes associated with the frac sand industry.
