Rainmaker Acquires Two Potential Canadian Frac Sand Sites

Rainmaker Mining Corp. has entered into a purchase and sale agreement to acquire two mineral claims in north central Saskatchewan, totaling approximately 10,275 hectares. Both claims have the potential to host deposits of silica sand suitable for hydraulic fracturing.

Financing a Boost to NFP Frac Sand Operations

Houston-based frac sand producer Northern Frac Proppants II LLC (NFP) announced the successful completion of a $77 million senior secured credit facility consisting of a five-year term loan. Proceeds from the new credit facility will be used to expand NFP’s operating frac sand mine and production facility in Alma Center, Wis., and bring online additional frac sand processing facilities located on Class 1 rail lines in Wisconsin.

Frac Sand Plant to Pay Air Pollution Fine

Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen said a Marshfield, Wis., operation involved with frac sand has been ordered to pay $80,000 for violating state air pollution control laws, according to WAOW TV.
