Financing a Boost to NFP Frac Sand Operations

Houston-based frac sand producer Northern Frac Proppants II LLC (NFP) announced the successful completion of a $77 million senior secured credit facility consisting of a five-year term loan. Proceeds from the new credit facility will be used to expand NFP’s operating frac sand mine and production facility in Alma Center, Wis., and bring online additional frac sand processing facilities located on Class 1 rail lines in Wisconsin.

Canadian Producer Moving Forward on Project

Declan Resources Inc. updated the status of its Firebag River Property in northeast Alberta, Canada. An initial review of the Firebag River Property in November by Dahrouge Geological Consulting Ltd. of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, indicated encouraging values for high-quality frac sand from samples collected in Cretaceous sandstones of the McMurray Formation.

Summit Proppants to Build New Plant

Mark Rust, executive vice president operations of Summit Proppants Inc., announced that the Missouri Department of Natural Resources has granted the company a permit that allows it to begin mining sand near Farmington, Mo. The sand will be used by the oil and gas industry as a proppant in hydraulic fracturing operations.

Santrol Begins NEW Proppant Production

Santrol, a Fairmount Minerals company, announced full-scale production of self-suspending proppant technology is underway at a Texas plant. Additional manufacturing sites will be integrated into the value chain during the first half of 2014.
