Net Sales Up for Martin Marietta

May 7, 2012 – Martin Marietta Materials reported that revenue in the first quarter rose to $394 million from $327.9 million a year ago, as net sales rose 21 percent to $350.5 million. Shipments from heritage aggregates operations increased 9.6 percent in the first quarter on higher demand from both residential and non-residential construction markets. Pricing of materials rose 2.8 percent. The company posted a loss of $36.7 million, due to $25.9 million in expenses from its bid for Vulcan Materials Co. and losses from acquired operations.
