Santrol Begins NEW Proppant Production

Santrol, a Fairmount Minerals company, announced full-scale production of self-suspending proppant technology is underway at a Texas plant. Additional manufacturing sites will be integrated into the value chain during the first half of 2014.

Summit Proppants to Build New Plant

Mark Rust, executive vice president operations of Summit Proppants Inc., announced that the Missouri Department of Natural Resources has granted the company a permit that allows it to begin mining sand near Farmington, Mo. The sand will be used by the oil and gas industry as a proppant in hydraulic fracturing operations.

Wisconsin Regulation Under Discussion

According to WTAQ radio, Wisconsin communities could keep more control over their frac sand mines, under a compromise that’s being worked on at the state capitol.

Hi Crush Hiring Workers for New Plant

According to WQOW TV, more than 400 people showed up at a job fair held in Whitehall, Wis., by frac sand producer Hi-Crush. Last year Hi-crush held a successful job fair for its Augusta, Wis., plant.

County Considers Resolution Targeting State Regulation

According to the Portage Daily Register, the Columbia County, Wis., Board’s planning and zoning committee - and possibly at least two other committees - are likely to consider a resolution opposing proposed state legislation designed to prevent local entities from regulating frac sand mining.
