Wayfinder Commissions New Frac Sand Extraction, Processing Operation

Wayfinder Corp. started commissioning its new frac sand extraction and processing operation, which is now Alberta’s closest regional silica sand facility to the Duvernay, the company said. Strategically located 80 km southeast of Whitecourt on Hwy. 43, the facility is one of the largest frac sand facilities in Canada and expected to be in production by the end of April 2019.

Superior Sands Hit With Lawsuit

A lawsuit filed March 27 in Pennsylvania claims that Superior Silica Sands has failed to pay bills submitted by a company it hired to manage a frac sand transloading facility in San Antonio, and owes the plaintiff a total of nearly $25 million.

New Sand Association Launched in Texas

A consortium of leading Texas sand mining companies announced the launch of a new association focused on promoting environmental stewardship, economic growth, and policy education. The Industrial Sand Producers of Texas (ISPOT) will coordinate between industry, local communities and government officials on best practices for the sand mining industry.
