PM042318 CollierMissouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) student Tyler Collier of St. Ann, Mo., received a $5,000 stipend for his scholastic achievement, industry-related work history, career goals and recommendations.

Currently a senior in the mining engineering department, Collier has spent previous summers working for Unimin Corp., Mississippi Lime Co. and has plans to intern with Lehigh Hanson this upcoming summer.

Patrick Nichols, a mine operations team leader for Mississippi Lime Co. and former recipient of this scholarship, said “Tyler’s success is driven by his intellectual curiosity, his passion for the mining profession, and his ability to connect with others.”

The late Pat Broaddus, founder of Associates Aggregates International Inc., established the scholarship to help educate future members of the aggregates industry. Broaddus, a 1955 civil engineering graduate from Missouri S&T, had served on the Miner Alumni Association board of directors for more than 25 years and was the board’s vice president for more than 12 years.

This scholarship is open to upper-class students from any engineering field at Missouri S&T who plan to pursue a career in the aggregates industry. Sponsors include the Miner Alumni Association, the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association, and the Missouri Limestone Producers Association.
