Nov. 30, 2021 – At the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s recent Training Resources Applied to Mining (TRAM) conference, held online Nov. 2-4, Ash Grove Cement was a Grand Prize Winner in the Training Materials Competition. You may recall that Joseph McGuire, Ph.D., an independent safety and health consultant; and Lucas Simpson, B.S., a safety manager for Ash Grove Cement, published an article in the September issue of Rock Products, “Safety Communication: Improving Worker Safety Through Soft Skill Development,” which describes the training submitted for the award. They also published an article “Safety: Does Class Size Really Matter? Worker Education and Training During and After the Pandemic,” in the November issue of Rock Products. Joe and Lucas have been contributing informative and useful articles to Rock Products for years. Emily Haas, PhD, a research health scientist for NIOSH, is also involved in many of these projects. Congratulations to Joe and Lucas on being recognized for their contributions to plant safety and health.
