GCAA Meeting Features Vulcan’s Fleming; Georgia Governor

According to the Georgia Construction Aggregates Association (GCAA), the 2021 Georgia Chamber Eggs & Issues Breakfast was held virtually this year. Jimmy Fleming, vice president of permitting & external relations at Vulcan Materials and GCAA Government/Community Affairs Committee chairman, and Jeff Wansley, GCAA executive director, participated in the virtual event. Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp was the headliner.

Kemp gave an overview of his priorities for the 2021 legislative session, which included freight and logistics projects. Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan and Speaker David Ralston included legislative priorities for the Senate and House. 

Georgia Chamber President Chris Clark interviewed Representative James Beverly, House Minority Leader, and Sen. Tonya Anderson who represented the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus. Congressman Carolyn Bordeaux gave a briefing on federal legislative priorities. Congresswoman Bordeaux serves on the important House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.

“The 2021 legislature has shown changes to our state’s transportation leadership in both the House and Senate. GCAA and our transportation partners are excited to welcome two long-time leaders to engage in transportation and infrastructure issues for our state,” Wansley said.

  • Sen. Frank Ginn is a longtime advocate for Georgia businesses. He will serve as the new chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee.
  • Rep. Rick Jasperse was appointed by Speaker Ralston to lead the House Transportation Committee. Jasperse is a proven leader in the House and will work on behalf of transportation issues in our state.
