Fisher Sand and Gravel Co., Dickinson, N.D., was awarded a $399,962,000 firm-fixed-price contract to design-build border infrastructure along the southern perimeter of the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge in Yuma County, Ariz.
Five bids were solicited with three bids received, according to the U.S. Department of Defense. Work will be performed in Yuma, Ariz., with an estimated completion date of Dec. 30, 2020. Fiscal 2018 military construction, defense-wide funds in the amount of $268,072,900 were obligated at the time of the award. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District, Portland, Ore., is the contracting entity.
Fisher Sand and Gravel is currently building roughly three miles of wall on private land outside El Paso, Texas.
U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.) said, “Fisher Industries will receive almost $270 million of this nearly $400 million project, which will go toward designing and building physical barriers along about 31 miles of the southern border in Yuma, Ariz. I am glad to see more progress being made to secure the southern border, and I am grateful to see a good North Dakota company like Fisher Industries getting some of the work. I know they will do very well, performing high quality work at a good bargain, all for the security of the people of the United States.”
