Ross Island Scores Dredging Contract

Ross Island Sand & Gravel Co., Portland, Ore., was awarded an $8,745,321 firm-fixed-price contract for annual maintenance dredging of the Sacramento and Stockton Deep Water Ship Channels in California.

Bids were solicited via the internet with three received, according to the Department of Defense. Work will be performed in Sacramento and Stockton, Calif., with an estimated completion date of Jan. 15, 2020. 

Fiscal 2019 operations and maintenance, civil funds in the amount of $8,745,321 were obligated at the time of the award. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, San Francisco, is the contracting agency.

Ross Island Sand & Gravel made news earlier this year when it closed its concrete division and laid off at least two dozen employees. In addition to the former concrete business and its dredging operations, Ross Island also owns asphalt general contractor KF Jacobsen and Pacific NW Aggregates.
