March 29, 2019 – The U.S. Geological Survey released the quarterly report “U.S. Production of Selected Mineral Commodities in the Fourth Quarter 2018,” mine and plant production data for selected mineral commodities. The combined production of construction-related materials (cement, construction sand and gravel, crushed stone, and gypsum) in the fourth quarter of 2018 decreased by 14 percent compared with that in the third quarter of 2018, although gypsum production was 6 percent higher in the same time period. The combined production of construction-related materials during 2018 increased by 5 percent compared with production in 2017; production of cement was slightly higher, construction sand and gravel was 7 percent higher, crushed stone was 4 percent higher, and gypsum was 3 percent higher.
