MF011117 EpirocEpiroc AB, the subsidiary of Atlas Copco Group with plans to be listed on the stock exchange in 2018, has begun operating as an independent business. It is providing customers in mining, infrastructure and natural resources with market-leading products and services.

Atlas Copco announced in January 2017 that the Group will split into two companies in 2018: Atlas Copco, focusing on industrial customers, and Epiroc, focusing on mining, infrastructure and natural resources customers. The split is proceeding according to plan, but remains subject to approval by Atlas Copco shareholders in April 2018.

Epiroc, still a subsidiary of Atlas Copco, is already starting to operate under its own brand name and logo.

“Epiroc is devoted to providing customers with products and services that enhance their productivity, energy efficiency, safety and ergonomics,” said Turgay Ozan, president of Epiroc USA LLC.

In the United States, the Epiroc organization started operating under the Epiroc name as of Dec. 1, 2017. The local Epiroc organization consists of 370 employees, who provide sales and service from 17 locations.

Epiroc is a leading productivity partner for the mining, infrastructure and natural resources industries. With cutting-edge technology, Epiroc develops and produces innovative drill rigs, rock excavation and construction equipment, and provides world-class service and consumables. The company was founded in Stockholm, Sweden, and has passionate people supporting and collaborating with customers in more than 150 countries.

Atlas Copco also announced Power Technique North America LLC as the new name of Construction Equipment North America LLC, effective Jan. 1, 2018.

Power Technique was chosen as the new name because U.S. and Canadian customers recognize power as the defining characteristic of the core product categories in the portfolio: air, power (including light) and flow.

The business area will serve multiple segments, including construction, industrial, drilling, oil and gas and petrochemicals. It will continue to comprise the Atlas Copco, Chicago Pneumatic and American Pneumatic Tools brands.

“Our commitment to the construction industry is as strong as ever,” said Scott Carnell, president of Power Technique North America. “However, we also serve customers in many other segments. The Power Technique name more accurately encompasses this and our overall product offering.”

Power Technique North America appointed Eudes Defoe to the position of Atlas Copco vice president, North Region.

Defoe is responsible for managing the development and implementation of sales and marketing activities to achieve Atlas Copco’s targets and goals. The brand provides air, power and flow solutions to multiple segments through products such as mobile compressors, pumps, light towers and generators.

The North Region includes: Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
