NSSGA, Wildlife Habitat Council Renew Partnership

The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) and Wildlife Habitat Council renewed a shared commitment to the enhancement and restoration of wildlife habitats at aggregates operations across the U.S.

Michael W. Johnson, NSSGA president and CEO, and Margaret O’Gorman, Wildlife Habitat Council president, signed a memorandum of understanding that outlines a shared desire to advance voluntary programs that allow aggregates operations to achieve their business goals and provide environmental benefits to the local community.

“Eight years ago, NSSGA became the first organization to ever partner with the Council in this way,” said Johnson. “We are glad to renew this partnership as operators across the country continue to work with the Council to demonstrate the industry’s commitment to sustainable environmental practices.”

The Wildlife Habitat Council promotes and certifies habitat conservation and management on corporate lands through partnerships and education. Their programs translate sustainability goals and objectives of companies into tangible and measurable on-the-ground actions.

“The aggregates industry has the largest number of certified operations with us of any industry, and that is something to be proud of,” said O’Gorman. “This industry sector very positive outreach efforts. When you can leverage nature and biodiversity into those efforts, you’re not only helping wildlife, you’re improving the entire community in which an operation exists.”
