According to preliminary numbers from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) – obtained in advance by Rock Products – an estimated 697 million metric tons (Mt) of total construction aggregates was produced and shipped for consumption in the United States in the third quarter of 2015, an increase of 5 percent compared with that of the third quarter of 2014.
The estimated production for consumption in the first nine months of 2015 was 1.69 billion metric tons, an increase of 5 percent compared with that of the same period of 2014.
An estimated 406 Mt of crushed stone was produced and shipped for consumption in the United States in the third quarter of 2015, an increase of 7 percent compared with that of the third quarter of 2014. The estimated production for consumption in the first nine months of 2015 was 991 Mt, an increase of 6 percent compared with that of the same period of 2014.
The estimated U.S. output of construction sand and gravel produced and shipped for consumption in the third quarter of 2015 was 291 Mt, an increase of 2 percent compared with that of the third quarter of 2014. The estimated production for consumption in the first nine months of 2015 was 702 Mt, an increase of 4 percent compared with that of the same period of 2014.
