Siemens Offers Advanced Monitoring

Siemens Industry Services announced a new advanced monitoring service, utilizing Veros Systems technology, designed for the industrial market. Working with Veros, Siemens extends its condition monitoring services using high frequency measurements of currents and voltages to continually assess the operating performance and machine health of motors and their mechanical and electrical components.

As part of the data-driven service, customers see real-time information of their motor’s output efficiency, torque, loading, power factor, speed and power quality. In addition, customers receive predictive warnings of impending asset health issues such as bearing failures, rotor bar cracks, soft footing and bolt looseness, coupling issues, impeller cracks and seal leaks.

With the service, Siemens provides all necessary software, hardware and installation services under a fixed rate, annual service contract. No capital, installation or project management efforts are required from the customer. Given the unique plug & play nature of this Siemens service, no additional sensors are required on the rotating equipment itself.

“The new offering builds upon Siemens strengths in industrial data technology and its comprehensive equipment knowledge to deliver customer value in the form of improved availability, efficiency and performance,” explained Simon Davidoff, general manager of Siemens Plant Data Services in the United States. “Our cooperation with Veros allows us to provide to our customers a reliability-centered service at cutting-edge and considerable operational benefit.”
