John J. Keating, president and chief operating officer, East, for Oldcastle Materials, was named Man of the Year by the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) during a surprise ceremony at the association’s 60th Annual Meeting in Marco Island, Fla.RS-JKeating-190

Last presented in 2009, the Man of the Year honor recognizes outstanding contributions by industry leaders for the betterment of the entire asphalt industry. Keating was honored for his leadership in developing the asphalt industry’s marketing and communications platform and unifying the partnership between the Asphalt Institute, the State Asphalt Pavement Associations, and NAPA.

Keating joined Oldcastle in 1994 through the acquisition of his family’s business. Prior to 1994, he held various leadership positions in sales, quality control, construction, and facility operations. In 2007, Keating was promoted to his current position with full management of Oldcastle’s Northeast, Central, Mid-Atlantic, and Southeast divisions.

“All of us at Oldcastle are very proud of John’s achievement and recognition within the industry,” said Oldcastle Materials CEO Randy Lake. “He truly exemplifies the spirit of this award through his leadership and through forging significant relationships that serve to strengthen the asphalt industry.”

Keating currently heads the industry’s Marketing Council, which brings together leadership from AI, NAPA, and the SAPAs to oversee research, marketing, and deployment activities for the asphalt pavement industry. These activities are grounded in pavement science and engineering and are backed by extensive market research into the needs of road owners and drivers.
