DeFeo Participates on Infrastructure Panel

Terex CEO and Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) Government and Public Affairs Chair Ron DeFeo joined a panel of industry leaders, policy makers and experts to discuss critical investments in our nation’s infrastructure system.

The event was sponsored by Atlantic Media.

“Ron has been a leader in the equipment manufacturing industry and a forceful and visionary advocate for improvements in our national infrastructure needed to keep American manufacturers competitive on a global scale,” said AEM President Dennis Slater.

The panel discussion on which he participated was called “Breaking the Gridlock: Reshaping the Infrastructure Debate.” It was moderated by Steve Clemons, Washington editor-at-large, for The Atlantic, and also included:

  • John Delaney (D-Md.), United States House of Representatives.
  • Janet Kavinoky, executive director, transportation and infrastructure, U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Earlier this year, Delaney introduced the Partnership to Build America Act (H.R. 2084), which finances $750 billion dollar in infrastructure investment using no appropriated funds and has 43 co-sponsors (22 Republicans and 21 Democrats).

Kavinoky recently told a crowd at the National Asphalt Pavement Association’s fly-in that her organization is retooling at least some of its messaging to appeal to the CEO set. Kavinoky said that when a business asks investors for money, it lays out the business case – the problem, the company’s solution and the expected return on investment. She said the chamber’s plan, still being developed, will make a similar case for federal infrastructure funding
